The mission of the Clinton County Bicentennial Commission is to promote awareness of our rich heritage, encourage citizens and communities to plan activities and sponsor events in celebration of two hundred years of history, and to envision the promise of the future.

July 10
Clinton County Fair Horticulture Show.
Part of the Clinton County Fair's Flower Show, this year's theme is "Our Bicentennial." Flowers are to be displayed from 9 a.m. to noon, with open judging at 1 p.m. All entries must be made with the Fair secretary at the fairgrounds before June 28. Location: Clinton County Fairgrounds, Floral Hall, 958 W. Main St., Wilmington. For more information contact Anne Lynch at 937-382-5898. The cost is $.25 efee per entry and entrance cost to the Fair.

July 13
Clinton County Fair Artistic Design Show
This Artistic Design Show is part of the Clinton County Fair Flower Show. This year's theme is "Our Bicentennial." Farewell Party for Ellen C.

Be part of a farewell party for the 1927 Wilmington Friendship Doll, Ellen C., who after five months will return to the Japanese children at Hirado Elementary School.  Join us for refreshments and write a thank you letter to the Japanese chldren and school for sending Ellen C. for a homecoming visit.  The event will take place at the Quaker Heritage Center of Wilmington College, 1870 Quaker Way, Wilmington, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; contact - Ruth Dobyns 937-382-6661, ext. 719

Sports Day - Croquet, corn hole and checkerboard tournaments, Clinton County Courthouse grounds; ice cream social

Countywide Garden Tour
Garden Tour passes cost $10.00 per person and entitle the purchaser to two tours. Both tours encompass different locations. Passes are transferable so you can purchase two passes and go on each tour with a different friend/family member (June, August). Children are welcome and admitted free under 12 years of age. No dogs please. Contact: Christine Krisa ckrisa@cinci.rr.com for more information.

CrabFest Promises End of Summer Bash With Motorcycle Jumps and Top Entertainment!

Duke Energy presents CrabFest 2010, September 4th – Labor Day Saturday, celebrating its 5th season with an “End of Summer Bash” featuring Phil Dirt & The Dozers, America’s top 50’s, 60’s Vintage Rock & Roll Show, along with the world’s first Criss Cross River of Fire Motorcycle Jump!   Phil Dirt & The Dozers bring the classic hits of the 50’s and 60’s along with the sounds of the Beach Boys to the CrabFest stage, while headlining a full day of top notch entertainment.  Also appearing will be the energetic sounds of Julie Nickell, along with the classic sounds of Devona & The Demos.  Hall of Famer and former back-up to Elvis – Donnie Sumner will return this year, along with 2nd Chance, Crawford & Dunlap and Victoria Bailey.

The River of Fire Criss Cross Motorcycle Leap of Life will feature two of the world’s greatest stuntmen, Aaron Ramsey and Todd Bennick.  Each of them will also perform a series of other feature jumps and stunts throughout the day.  And making appearances throughout the day will be motorcycle stunt legends, Gene Sullivan (Evel’s Knievel’s former bodyguard and true legend), and Bob Gill (The Florida Flyer).  

Plus, there are many other great new features including a visit by Snoopy from Kings Island’s Planet Snoopy and Scallywag will present the all new Lazer Tag arena.  Also, the kids can jump in the huge inflatables and play games in the KidZone, take in the Duke Energy village, corn hole tournament, and tons of games, booths, and great food including the signature Crab Burger.  

This year’s CrabFest celebrates its 5th Anniversary with the ‘World’s Largest Horseshoe Crab’, one of America’s Top Roadside Attractions (as presented by CNN by Roadside America.com), as the inspiration for the event.   The World’s Largest Horseshoe Crab also had a presence in the summer feature film, ‘Eclipse’.
