The mission of the Clinton County Bicentennial Commission is to promote awareness of our rich heritage, encourage citizens and communities to plan activities and sponsor events in celebration of two hundred years of history, and to envision the promise of the future.

It's official!  The Bicentennial has arrived.

The Clinton County History Center hosted the first in a series of historic presentations on December 2, 2009.  Michael and Rebecca Cooper, historic re-enactors, presented "Maidens, Men and the Military: Clinton County Fashions of 1812." 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Barn Quilt Project was in full force throughout 2009 in preparation for the Bicentennial in 2010.  One by one, barns were hung with their unique art work.

The Bicentennial Kick-off Event on February 19 at the Clinton County Courthouse was well attended and enjoyed by all.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pictured below is Ellen Shunaman's third grade class at Holmes Elementary with the Activity Books gifted to them by the Clinton County History Center.  All third graders in Clinton County received a copy of this book that focuses on 200 years of Clinton County history.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The CMH (Clinton Memorial Hospital) Auxiliary Ball was officially the Clinton County Bicentennial Ball this year.  Decorations, displays, historic dancing and vintage clothing made for a delightful evening.

The Wilmington Schools Foundation brought the musical group Elixir from Mt. Vernon to perform to local third and fourth-graders at the Wilmington High School auditeria on May 11.  A second performance also took place for the public.
